It may never happen again in this century. Yes, because the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus is preventing foreign snowboarders and skiers from coming to Japan. This means there is a surplus of so-called "JAPOWs". Why do these foreigners, who used to flock to Niseko in Hokkaido and Hakuba in Nagano, continue to stick to the snowy mountains of Japan? The reason is that there is no other country where so much snow falls in the areas where so many people live on a daily basis. Of course, in the remote areas of Alaska in the U.S. and deep in the mountains of BC, Canada, there is an abundance of excellent powder snow. But that's not the same thing. There is a town and many slopes scattered near the town, and you can enjoy high quality powder snow. Moreover, the food, hot springs, and people are excellent. What's more, lift tickets are cheap. These are the values that Japan should be proud of to the world. In other words, we are living in an environment that is the envy of snow lovers all over the world. That's why I decided to compile this book to let people know again about the snow, mountains and culture of Japan. I hope that "JAPOW PRIDE" will be engraved in the hearts of snowboarders living in the world's heaviest snow country.
